Busy end of year for planning applications in Kildare

Apart from an application to extend the Supervalue in Athy, January proved to be a quiet month in terms of large-scale applications lodged with the Council and decisions emanating from the Council.  The run up to the Christmas holiday period was quite busy however with a number of interesting applications lodged in Kildare and the two town councils. 


Superquinn lodged an application for a large-scale development encompassing a new supermarket and 8 screen cinema off the Limerick Road (Newbridge Rd).

An application was lodged with Athy town Council for a large retail unit with ancillary retail units and cafe at Cois na Habhainn & former Batchelor’s factory, Rathstewart, Athy.

Nursing Homes:

 Proposed extension to accommodate 58 additional bedspaces at Moyglare Nursing Home, Maynooth

 Proposed new 100 bed nursing home, Ballygoren, Celbridge

Proposed new 52 bed nursing home Ballintine Park, Allen, Co.Kildare

 Proposed extension to Lourdesville Nursing Home, Brallistown Commons, Athy Road, Kildare,

 Proposed extension to cater for additional 68 residents at Parke House Nursing Home, Boycetown, Kilcock, Co. Kildare


 Application for demolition of existing changing facilities and ancillary structures to accommodate construction of Sports Facility, Primary Care Centre and Further Education Centre fronting onto Station Road, at St. Conleths VEC School, Newbridge


Permission granted for large-scale residential scheme in Maynooth, Co. Kildare

Marchbury Properties Ltd were granted permission for the demolition of an existing 2-storey former convent building and the construction of 100 no. dwellings on a site bounded by the Moyglare Road to the west, the River Lyreen to the east, the Divine Word Missionaries Site to the south/west and the Mariavilla Estate to the north at Moyglare Road, Maynooth, Co. Kildare.  The development includes a mix of dwellings and apartments, along with basement car parking. 68 conditions were attached to the permission, including one which requires the omission of some dwellings and the creche, with a view to these being reconsidered under a future application.
