Tougher Requirements for One Off Dwellings under consideration

The elected members are currently considering significant new changes to the current requirements for persons seeking one off houisng in the Kildare countryside.  The current proposal is for the county to be divided in two.  The south of the county (south of Newbridge) will enjoy similar requirements as under the current plan but those seeking one off houses to the north of Newbridge and east of Newbridge will be subject to more onerous requirements i.e. 18 year residency in a rural area as opposed to 12 years, site must be 5k from family home as opposed to 8km.  Following a number of public meeting by local councillors and TD Sean O’Fearghaill a significant amount of submissions have been lodged with the Council as part of the final round of the public consultation process in preparing the new plan.
